Amerie is patient and persistent. She works on her physical fitness to get stronger and build endurance. She practices skills at home and on her own time to get better and quicker. Amerie leads by example. She is focused and works hard whenever she is with her team both on and off the ice. On the ice, she is calm and reassures teammates to remain steady. Off the ice, she knows she needs to eat healthy, stay hydrated and get enough sleep to be able to perform at her best. Amerie encourages her teammates to do the same. Amerie is quiet, but her presence is noticed.
Amerie is on the Honour Roll at school. She is a very dedicated student. She openly discusses the importance of studying with her teammates. She knows student comes before athlete as a student athlete.
Amerie has many people that she looks up to. Most notably would be Brigette Lacquette. As her parent, with probably more insight, I would say that it is because Brigette is an Indigenous young woman that she can identify with.
“Amerie possesses an ability to remain calm, focused even in times of immense pressure, and would make a point to reassure teammates whom struggled at times with this. She also made a point to put her team and teammates first, which was very much appreciated by myself and especially her teammates.” – Coach
