TEAM ONTARIO CALLOUT FOR COACHES & SPORT MANAGERS FOR NAIG 2023
ISWO is accepting applications for the following volunteer positions: Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches. These positions are available for a number of sport categories for the 2023 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), set to take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 15-23, 2023. The sport manager application and details can be found below.
The North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) are a multi-sport, multi-disciplinary event for Indigenous youth, between the ages of 13 and 19, from across North America (Turtle Island). The Games will bring together 756 Indigenous Nations, and approximately 5,000 athletes, to celebrate, share and reconnect through sport and culture in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth and Millbrook First Nation. The Games will offer contemporary sports competitions, three of which are traditional Indigenous sports, including box lacrosse, 3D archery and canoe/kayaking.
Team Ontario is accepting applications for the following #NAIG2023 Sport Categories for Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions:
- 3-D Archery
- Athletics
- Badminton
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Canoe/Kayak
- Box Lacrosse
- Golf
- Rifle Shooting
- Soccer
- Softball
- Swimming
- Volleyball
- Wrestling
All interested candidates are asked to submit an application by September 9, 2022, at 5:00 pm EST.
ISWO will be hosting tryouts across the province of Ontario for all NAIG sports throughout the year and into 2023. Tryouts for the North Central region have been scheduled for September 30 to October 2, 2022 in Thunder Bay. A full schedule of Team Ontario tryouts, along with information about the registration process will be released in the coming weeks.

ISWO is also accepting applications for volunteer positions as Sport Managers for Team Ontario in various North American Indigenous Games sport categories.
Team Ontario Sport Managers and Coaching staff will promote and create awareness of the 2023 NAIG, in an effort to increase participation in their respective sport program across Ontario.
Sport Managers must ensure their sport program meets all deadlines and requirements and adheres to all administrative, technical and disciplinary guidelines outlined by the NAIG Council. To represent Team Ontario and lead Ontario youth in the 2023 NAIG, Sport Managers are expected to set a strong leadership example as a supportive, encouraging and proud sport participant. They must strive to motivate and support athletes and coaching staff to achieve team goals and objectives.
If you think you would make a great Sport Manager for any of the sport categories taking place at the 2023 NAIG (list below), you are encouraged to apply by September 9, 2022, at 5:00 pm EST.
