Standing Bear Making Tracks: Fueling Our Bodies

Join us virtually on June 11, 2024 from 6 PM – 8 PM as our hosts Kobe McComber and Taylor McPherson will talk about the importance of working out and how to fuel your body with proper nutrients to achieve your goals and excel at your sport.

In addition to receiving knowledge from experienced athletes to help you reach your goals, participants will receive a Standing Bear certification!

About Taylor McPherson: Taylor is a driven and accomplished individual who takes great pride in her Miawpukek First Nations heritage. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta. Taylor’s passion for sports stems from her experience as an Alumni of Pandas Wrestling, where she excelled as a wrestler at both the Varsity and National Team level. With her love for sports, she aims to inspire and empower those around her and develop more inclusive spaces for Indigenous people and girls within sports programming.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Taylor also serves as a Sports Program Coordinator with the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta (ISCA). In this role, she is responsible for developing and implementing culturally appropriate sports programming for Indigenous youth and families in Alberta. Through her work, Taylor aims to create safe and inclusive spaces that promote physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement among Indigenous populations.

About Kobe McComber: I am Mohawk and part of the wolf clan . I come from Kahnawake, a small community next to Montreal. I’m the youngest of 7 children who all played sports. High level Hockey and lacrosse were always on my schedule, no matter the day of the week. Working out brought that same intensity that I loved playing sports, I knew I found my calling.
